As our second experiment on our 2nd day of our science course, Exploring the Microcosm, we used the foldscope to look at the skin of a tomato under different magnifications, 50x, 140x and 340x. The cells were visible and uneven in shape. The cell wall was visible. The sample had a slight orangish- red colouration due to pigments present in the tomato. I faced a few challenges due to the slippery nature of the tomato. It was also very difficult to secure the sample to the glass slide, as it was very moist. the cellotape kept coming off, but finally, I managed to secure it properly to the slide and move on with the experiment.
