For our third day at our science course, Exploring the Microcosm, we looked at the pollen from a sunflower under the foldscope at 2 different magnifications, 140x and 340x. The pollen was too small to see at 50x. The pollen was yellow in colour and circular. It also had multiple spikes sticking out of it. This sample was very difficult to prepare as the pollen was very small and we could not see it with our naked eyes. I had to prepare the sample multiple times as it was very tough to spot the pollen as it could be anywhere on the cellotape. In order to prepare the sample, we had to use tape to slightly dab on the flower, before sticking it on the glass slide. We had to start again if we got a pollen sack, as a pollen sack contains a lot of pollen, which we did not need.
