Here is another interesting find from a sample I collected while hiking. There were a few of these in the water sample I picked up at the bottom of a waterfall.

Desmids are single celled green algae that have high degrees of symmetry. They make me think of intricate paper snowflakes (that I always tried to make as a child but never quite got the hang of...). Enjoy!
