Today is the second day of Crayola Creativity Week. The book for today is "Detective Duck: The Case of the Missing Tadpole" by Henry Winkler (yes, the actor who played the Fonz from Happy Days!!).
This book (and actually the whole Detective Duck series) is about a duck detective who solves mysteries using clues and facts. I like that she actually tells her friends not to jump to conclusions and look for evidence to support their claims - she is quite the scientist!!
The best moment is when one of the characters (a catfish named Harry) has a pair of glasses fall on him. Harry calls them his "magic eyes" because they let him see things in the water that he couldn't see without them. And that is exactly what a Foldscope does! A Foldscope is a "magic eye" that lets you see the invisible microscopic world and all of the wonderful, beautiful, and amazing life forms that live there.
What will you and your students discover with a classroom set of "magic eyes"? Have fun celebrating, exploring, and creating this week and beyond with your Foldscopes!
