I have to say, I think these money images are my favorites of the week. There is just something powerful about seeing the eyes looking at me through my Foldscope (and it is a bit unnerving!).
Today's book is "Bee Fearless: Dream Like a Kid" by Mikaila Ulmer. I really appreciate the "fearless" part of the title because, as I stated in an earlier post, part of what I do at Foldscope is take away the fear and intimidation of science. So anyone who is out there helping people tackle big issues and solve problems in a fearless way is a big hero of mine!
The following images are of money. I Placed a one dollar bill under my Foldscope 2.0 and centered it on the eye of George Washington on the front side and the eye on top of the pyramid on the back side. The last picture is George Washington's eye on the front of a quarter. I used reflective lighting with my Foldscope 2.0 and the LED light module to see the eye. I love the fact that you can view opaque objects with this technique!
The next images are of honey bee legs. Mikaila's business centers around protecting bees, so I decided to include microscopic views of honey bee legs. Understanding all parts of your business is important, and learning how honey bee legs are shaped and structured can help you better understand how they collect pollen to take back to their hives. I would like to think that Mikaila would appreciate this deeper understanding of the bees that she is trying to help, don't you?
Do you have ideas for starting a business? If so, could you look at any parts of it under a Foldscope to get a closer look and deeper appreciation for it? Happy Foldscoping!
