I collected some moss and lichen while I was at the NER SDB Conference held at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. I picked it up from the ground right outside of the building where the conference took place. When I got home, I placed it in a petri dish and let it soak for 24 hours. Then I took a pipette, extracted a drop of water from the dish, and placed it on a slide. And I found tardigrades swimming around! I am going to have to continue exploring the moss sample to see how many different types of tardigrades I can find. I will continue posting as I find more!
