Avery House courtyard in Caltech, Pasadena is home to a small purple wildflower that grows in the grass of the inner courtyard. This particular sample of flower was collected at around 2pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Tweezers were used to extract pollen from within the throat of the flower. The foldscope image to the right depicts a cluster of pollen, in which individual circular grains can be seen around the edges of the mass.
