White hibiscus flower growing from its plant before being plucked. Sample (whole flower) was obtained outside the JCAP building at Caltech (1200 E. California Blvd, Pasadena, CA) at 8pm PST. The flower was plucked from its stem and multiple stamen were manually and analyzed.

Stamen from white hibiscus flower under foldscope magnification; there is a large yellow stamen in the main focus of the image, which is slightly translucent. There is the most opacity along the central axis of the stamen, where it is the strongest.
