 The image above is of flower pollen. The pollen is approximately of an oval shape and bright yellow, translucent in color.

 The sample is obtained from a yellow lilies right next to the turtle pond around 4 PM, 5/8. The flower is cut off with a pair of scissors. The pollen was rubbed onto the slide with a damp cotton bud.

 The pollen sample is obtained from one of the small purple flower on campus of Caltech, near Firestone. The flower is picked around 7:30 PM, 5/29. The anther was cut off and crushed. The pollen fallen out is then brushed onto the slide with a wet cotton bud.

 The image above is of a the pollen of a hibiscus flower. In the picture we can see pollen is of a round shape, almost perfectly circle. There seems to be a concentric darker core to the pollen. The pollen is yellow and a bit translucent in color.

 The pollen sample is obtained from the big orange Hibiscus on campus of Caltech, out side of Page House. The flower is picked around 11:00 PM, 5/29. The anther is rubbed against the slide to get the pollen fallen out. The pollen is spread flatten and even with a cotton bud.

 The pollen sample is obtained from an
 
 Aloe Vera
 
 flower on campus of Caltech, outside of Bechtel Residence. The flower is picked around 3:45 PM, 5/30. The anther is rubbed against the slide to release the pollen. The pollen is later spread out more evenly by rubbing the cover slip against the slide gently.

 The pollen is obtained from one of the red roses on campus of Caltech. The rose bush is located on the Moore Walk, outside of Avery House. The sample is gathered around 3:30 PM, 5/29. The stamen with anther is collected, which is later shaken to release pollen onto the slide.


 Rose is a type of woody prennial species of the genus Rosa. They usually form a bush, with fairly large and massive flowers. More information can be found at the Wikipedia page:

 of the poppy family, commonly known as Matiliya poppies. They are perennial shrubs with woody stems, with large white flowers (almost the size of a palm). The petals are massive and fully open, exposing the bright yellow center. More description can be found at the Wikipedia page:

 The flower is small (~ 2 cm in length and ~ 0.5 cm in width) and pink, which grew on a long stick in shrub. The there are six petals on a flower, closed with white stamen and yellow anther. The flower is a species of the flower has not been identified yet.

 The image above is of some mold growing on a mango. In the picture, there is a relatively big portion of material of a yellow to green shade and translucent. There are some dark proportions, and some floc around.

 The sample is obtained by picking up a small amount of mold with the tip of a cotton swab and then spreading the sample out on the slide. The mango is from a fridge in Ricketts Hovse, Caltech. It has been kept inside a plastic bag and inside the fridge for at least one week. The mold growing on the mango appears to be grey and white on the outer rim and greyish green on the inside.


 One possible species of the mold is the
 
 Penicillium expansum
 
 . This species of fungi is common throughout the world, and causes what is usually known as the “blue mold” in multiple types of fruits. More information can be found at this Wikipedia page:

Mold on Mango

 The image above is of the edge of a leaf from a coriander plant, observed under foldscope. In the picture, we can see clearly a transparent vein going across the field of vision. Cells, green due to their chloroplast, are aligned with clear organization within lanes. Notice that the greeness is not distributed evenly within all cells.

 The sample is obtained from a Coriander plant in Ricketts Hovse, around 4:30 PM, 5/29. The leaf is plucked and the edge is taken with a pair of tweezers. We chose to observe the edge of the leaf as it’s thinner than the interior and thus of less layers of cells.


 Coriander, also known as Chinese parsley, is a herb whose stems and leaves are usually called cilantro. I personally do not appreciate either the taste or scent of cilantro, yet the observation was interesting. More information can be found at this Wikipedia page:

 The image above is of some dead facial skin, observed under foldscope. It can be seen that the skin shows a general web pattern, with random embedding of bigger yellow circles. These circles might be where the pores were. No specific and complete cell structure can be distinguished in this picture. This might be caused by the fact that the surface skin tissue only contains dead cell, or because of the relative low resolution under the magnification.

 The sample was obtained around 10:30 PM, 5/29, by Sophie Howell, peeling off a small piece of dead skin from her face. The skin tissue is directly placed on the slide and observed under the foldscope.


 This observation is conducted in cooperation with Sophie Howell, Shubh Agrawal, and Becca Mikofsky. The sample is generously donated by Sophie. Thank you guys!

 This image above is of a mixture of blood and presumably skin tissue. The majority part of the slide seems red, with a web-like structure underneath, like the same structure that can be observed with pure skin tissue under the foldscope. The red hue is caused by the red blood cell.

 The sample is obtained from Becca Mincofsky’s arm, around 11:30 5/29. She had a minor injury on her arm which was bleeding. The sample is gathered by pressing a clean slide against her wound and smear the sample across the slide. Becca is a student in Ricketts Hovse, Caltech.


 This observation is conducted with the cooperation with Becca Minkofsky, Shubh Agrawal, and Sophie Howell. The sample is generously donated by Becca Mincofsky. Thank you guys.
