Pollen observed under foldscope, picture taken with iPhone front camera. The image above is pollen of a rose. The pollen is translucent, roughly round in shape, a little ovary, and yellow in color.
The rose whose pollen is studied. The pollen is obtained from one of the red roses on campus of Caltech. The rose bush is located on the Moore Walk, outside of Avery House. The sample is gathered around 3:30 PM, 5/29. The stamen with anther is collected, which is later shaken to release pollen onto the slide.
Rose is a type of woody prennial species of the genus Rosa. They usually form a bush, with fairly large and massive flowers. More information can be found at the Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose .
