Question of the day: Can we capture and examine a bug like Mr Manu?
Thoughts of 6-year-old: Yes we can! But it did not really work out the way we had planned it. The bug died before we could get any video of his heart or breathing. Yet, we did get some good pictures.
Question of mom: How did we get the bug?
Answer of 6-year-old: Mama got two little green bugs off some lettuce she was washing for dinner. The bugs were VERY cold and almost dead because of they had been in the refrigerator. The lettuce was butter head lettuce that had been grown through hydroponics: which means grown in water in a very big green house with lots of bees.
Question of mom: How did mommy get the bug on the slide without squashing it?
Answer of 6-year-old: She picked them up with a sticky Foldscope cover slip.
Question of mom: What did you see?
Answer of 6-year-old: A head, the body, hair on legs, and some very cool, long antenna. The antenna were in segments! Here are my pictures:
