for this trip to #zanskar valley enroute we stopped at Lamayuru monastry a place located 125 km west of Leh.

Lamayuru is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Ladakh , possessing a rich history that spans over a millennium. The region around Lamayuru is often nicknamed the "Moonland" because of its unique, eroded, lunar-like landscape. The ochre and gray terrain, sculpted by wind and water, is a photographer's dream and makes the monastery appear as though it were perched on the surface of another planet.

The site's religious history dates back to the 10th or 11th century . It was founded by Mahasiddha Naropa , who spent time meditating in a cave on the site where the main temple now stands.

A holiday for the local kids yet they came to see and experience the joy of learning using the frugal science tool Foldscope.

The team comprised of all my HVTF members who inturn learnt how to use the tool, infact each day they would help fold atleast 20 Foldscopes now thats what we call a weteam.

We used the light comming from the window n our wow n wonder had no bounds exclaiming they could see bubbles, structures and more.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed using their hands as tools to get a thin peel they were excited that science could be done in their monastery and didnt need a complex set up.

Thanks to this wonderful human who is barely seen in any pictures as he was the photographer for the entire trip meticulously covering all the workshops and activities held during our trip, proud to call him my son.
