Well begun is half done, the excitement of how a paper tool will enable us to view samples was a doubt all the students had. This was a very diverse cohort with even Computer Science students taking part in the workshop.
As usual the onion was a great start it helped the students learn how to handle the tool, what 140 X meant and how easy it got once they knew how to make the slide.
Each time they made observations they drew them and wrote a few notes about their learning.
The show stoppers were the pollen view they were overwhelmed by the colour different shapes and we will put that in the next post.
whose that small insect in the yellow flower, it was moving too soon, but we managed well.
Not to miss the leaf peel view to see the stomata and I hope u can see the drawings show it more clearly but it was a treat to observe the stomata and guard cells.
Accompanied by Dr.Debarati at Loyola PU College, day 2 was fun as we were being constantly called to take pictures. The students were happy to see things so close and each time they focused they now got better and hence took less time to focus the slide.
One of the highlights of the day was how the students spoke in Kannada to express themselves, we encouraged them to write in English using small words that would help them in their academic progression.
Tomorrow, we'll dive deeper into the world of microscopy, using it to design an experiment Stay tuned for more updates from our Foldscope workshop! #Foldscope #Microscopy #STEMeducation #StJosephsUniversity
Thanks to all the student mentors and the educators at St. Josephs University specially Dr.Mitra Madappa for this wonderful engagement.
