History of the school-Geshe Lobsang Samten and Geshe Tsultrin Tharchen established the Jamyang School in Leh, Ladakh, in 2008. The school is located in central Leh with far horizons comprising of pristine snow capped mountains that seem to hover under a deep blue sky. Both the Geshe-la’s studied in Drepung Gomang Monastery from 1979 till 2003. His Holiness the 14th Dalai lama asked them to start a school in Ladakh to help Himalayan students from far flung areas as both the Geshe-las come from Himalayan backgrounds.
As a part of the HVT Foundation education support program in Leh in collaboration with Save Himalayas -Himalay Unnati mission we hosted an AMR Awareness workshop at Jamyang School. Thanks to Mahima Mehra for connecting to so many schools and being the strategic leader who nurtures a team in her guidance.
The workshop was well received and saw answers form these young adults who understood what superbugs are the danger that looms large on us as a population and how they could help us.
The kids made slides and shared the excitement by posing very interesting questions to the team on the resolution of the Foldscope, its magnification and more.
The workshop was facilitated by Angad and Aarth and and we also answered questions with some career guidance sessions .
If children get to explore freely , they turn out to be responsible citizens some day. The school is has very good infrastructure, Skilling centre n Great place to volunteer
